Are you ready to boost your complexion and get that glow? Give our gentle and completely natural DIY skincare suggestions a try. Quick, easy and fun - you’ll be looking fresh-faced and carefree in no time!

HONEY DELIGHTS

Raw, unprocessed honey is our favorite DIY skin care ingredient because you can use it at every stage of your routine. Honey is a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, which smells delish too! According to dermatologist, Dr Doris Day, it’s also breathable, which is essential for anything you plan on applying to your skin.

Honey & Turmeric Exfoliating mask

Combine equal parts turmeric powder and raw, unprocessed honey. Add a small amount of natural yogurt until it forms a paste firm enough to hold to your face (you don’t want it sliding off and staining your clothes!).

We suggest not trying this one before you’re about to head out the door as it can tinge your skin slightly. It’s best if you apply the mask and wash it off just before bed. Your skin will be left plump and deliciously soft!

Honey 2in1 Cleanser + Moisturizer

Just splash your face with water and apply a dollop of raw, unprocessed honey. Spread across your skin, with the help of a little more water if needed. Leave for a few minutes and then rinse. You’ll find that the honey easily comes away with water.

If you need some more intense moisturization, leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing your skin.

BREAKFAST FOR SKINCARE?

We’ve already shown you that honey is packed full of benefits, but some other breakfast-time ingredients work wonders on your skin too. According to dermatologist, Dr Surbhi, MD, oatmeal helps to soothe the skin for a calmer complexion. Another breakfast staple, plain yoghurt, is also helpful because the lactic acid it contains can dissolve skin cells and soften the skin.

Keen to try? A couple of our faves are below:

Natural Oaty Cleanser

Combine one tablespoon of oats that have been ground to a powder and ½ tablespoon chickpea flour. Add a pinch or two of turmeric powder and then add water until it forms a paste you can use as a facial cleanser.

Fruit & Yogurt Exfoliating Mask

Simply blend a small amount of papaya with plain yoghurt and apply to your face.

It’s much gentler than the sugar, salt and lemon scrubs you’ll see suggested! The addition of papaya makes it smell divine too. Remember, you don’t want to put anything highly acidic or rough on your skin, because not only will your pH level be affected, but your skin could suffer microtears.

Top Tip

Use organic ingredients wherever possible. Not only is it better for your skin, but the environment too!

Tell us: what’s your favorite DIY skincare ingredient? Have you tried any of these? We’d love to know!
